Vira Vira is my stylized way of saying Bira-Bira, Hiligaynon word for working hard incessantly. I thought of this title months before opening the exhibit because I noticed for some time now that my friends and family call me as such for spurning artwork one after another.

Vira Vira is my 8th Solo Art Exhibit, and the show features mosaics, linocut prints, and watercolors.
Mosaics
Mosaics were from my MassKaraArt and Rosas series. I had 17 mosaics in different sizes.

MassKara Art are mosaics of my versions of the MassKara Festival icons. I did five (5) MassKaras in different colors.

The Rosas Series were inspired by the “rose” campaign icon of VP Leni Robredo’s presidential bid in the Philippine Elections of 2022. I was deeply involved in the campaign from October 2021 to May 2022.

Our choice lost, but I believe we have started an amazing chain of kindness. Find us on the news from Rappler!

I also included the other mosaics that I have done during the year and the past years since I started breaking tiles (it’s like breaking bread.. or whatever haha!).

Using limited palette and specific shapes with the other mosaics, they were done with semi-abstractionism in mind.

My mini-mosaics as small as 4 x 5 inches were also part of Vira Vira. I have been making a lot of mini-art to encourage people to start their art collection. Read about Mini-Art here.

Watercolors

My 5 Stilts series included are highly-contrasted watercolors.

The other 2 watercolors here were mini-artworks too.

I just love making miniatures!

Linocut Prints

I did more linocut prints of my Artists in the Tropics series.

I also added the newer linocuts I did.

This exhibit was my first solo show in my gallery Artfull and ran from May 23rd to June 30th, 2022.
